Last night, at about 11pm, there were two Little Owls calling to each other in Mercers Wood.

Took a cycle ride out to Beckingham Marsh this morning, returning back along both sides of the river and through Mercers Wood. A grand total of 49 species of bird seen. This morning I discovered a Great Spotted Woodpecker has bred in Mercer Wood and now has a nest full of hungry babies inside a tree hole.
