Walk in the Wood

I took a walk in the wood this morning with Gill Vollantine to take some up to date pictures for this website (see the gallery).

The wood is looking good at this time of year, with lots of wild flowers in bloom, lots of insects buzzing about, and lots of birds singing.

Met the team of volunteers come to finish off the new handrail at the steps from the Mercer Street entrance.

In one hour I saw or heard 17 species of birds – Blackbird, Song Thrush, Robin, Starling, Great Tit, Wren, House Sparrow, Chaffinch, Chiffchaff, Blackcap, Carrion Crow, Jackdaw, Woodpigeon, Stock Dove, Collared Dove, House Martin and Swift
