Took a cycle ride out to Beckingham Marsh this morning, returning back along both sides of the river and through Mercers Wood. A grand total of 49 species of bird seen.

At Beckingham Marsh there were three Little Egrets, plus Mallard, Shoveler, Shelduck, Lapwing, Oystercatcher, Herring Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Buzzard, Meadow Pipit (several), Tree Sparrow (several), Reed Bunting (2), Chaffinch, Wren, Whitethroat, Skylark, Swallow, Carrion Crow, Rook, Magpie, Woodpigeon, Pheasant (1), Grey Partridge (2), Red-legged Partridge (1)

Along the riverside I added Blackcap, Willow Warbler, three Sedge Warblers, Pied Wagtail, Yellow Wagtail, Goldfinch, Greenfinch, two Bullfinches, Blue Tit, House Sparrow, Dunnock, House Martin, Sand Martin, Blackbird, Song Thrush, Robin, Starling, Jackdaw, Swift and Collared Dove.

In Mercers Wood I added our nesting Great Spotted Woodpecker, plus Great Tit, Coal Tit, Chiffchaff and Stock Dove.

There was also a Brown Hare at Beckingham Marsh.
