Everyone will be familiar with the Feral (or Town) Pigeon which can be seen everywhere around the town centre.

Woodpigeons and Collared Doves are also extremely common, and both of these species can be seen in Mercers Wood (and just about everywhere else).

Stock Doves are also resident in this area, and I often hear one calling (or even see one) in Mercers Wood (most recently on May 5th 2019).
I sometimes see Stock Doves in Morton too, or along the riverside beyond Morton, and especially in Castle Hill Wood.
A pair have successfully nested in the trees at the rear of Trentside Primary School this year (2018).
