The Bat survey, led by Bob Cornish, will take place on Wednesday 22nd of April at 20:30pm. Meet at the George Street entrance to Mercer Wood.
Please note,
1. Bring a torch for personal safety only (not be used for trying to see the bats, this would disturb their feeding)
2. This is not a bat walk but a simple i.d. survey. (A ‘Bat walk’ allows the chance to hear numerous different species).
3. This location has in the past identified 3 species. The Common and Soprano Pipistrelles and the Noctule. (The Noctule was thought to be passing on a foraging flight. It is not certain that it would be recorded this time.)
Bob emphasises this because he would not like people to be disappointed.
He will bring a couple of spare bat detectors so that people can hold them and hear for themselves.
