Date(s) - 09/12/2017 - 11/12/2017
10:00 am - 2:30 pm
Mercer Road Entrance, Gainsborough
Up to 2000 very small trees will be planted on the edge of the woodland over three days.
Do come and see what we are doing, do come and help if you have time! Come and find out about long-term plans and give us your ideas for making Mercer Wood a special place. We need to know as your views are important and will influence what we can achieve.
Tuesday 9th, Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th December are now confirmed as the work party days when the Trust for Conservation Volunteers, led by David Rodger, will welcome volunteer help in the wood. We usually meet at the Japan Road entrance at about 10 am. Wear old clothes and Wellingtons or waterproof shoes are highly recommended. Bring some lunch if you can stay for a while, we usually work until 2.30 pm. Plenty of easy tasks for new volunteers – it will not be heavy work!
Mercer Wood Community Group is delighted to announce this very positive beginning to their intention to improve this local open green space. Many of the trees will probably be planted at the Trent bank edge so that is where to look for us if you can spare some time during the day.
Come and find our plans for bidding for WREN funding to enable a makeover of the Mercer Road entrance, offering wheelchair access and a mud-free pathway to the river – if you agree that is a good idea, please come and tell us – we need your support for our funding application.
